The "Novisch" Course: Rugby for Adult Beginners (Men & Women 18+)

From Monday, August 31st to Thursday, October 8th Malmö Rugby Club is organising introductory training sessions for anyone (18+) who wants to give rugby a try. You can still join, even if we have passed august 31st!

As our beginner's coach, Gijs, explains: "Rugby is a sport that not only welcomes all types of people with all sorts of body types, but it actually needs them. There is a role for everyone on the field."

From 18:15 to 19:30, experienced coaches will explain the basics of the game and guide you through simple exercises, such as passing and catching a rugby ball, running lines so your teammate can pass to you, tackling and being tackled.

When?

For 7 weeks, every Monday and Thursday evening from 18:15 to 19:30
Starts Monday August 31st.

🎒 What Do You Need to Bring?

Shoes:
Rugby is played on grass; football boots (soccer cleats) or other studded shoes are recommended. If you don't have them yet, it's fine, but be prepared for some slippery practices.

Clothing:
Sportswear that you feel comfortable in and can move freely in.
NO hoodies with sippers or other loose parts that someone could get caught on.

Note:
During training, do not wear (smart)watches, jewelry, or piercings. If piercings cannot be removed, tape them over with sports tape. We have lost at least three ear rings in the last group so we'll be more strict on this, this time around.

Mouthguard:
Buy a mouthguard. Available at InterSport or online via Stadium (SISU mouthguard recommended).

Water:

Bring a bottle of water.

💳 What Does It Cost?

Participation in the introductory course is a one-time fee of 400 SEK which includes a club membership so you will be able to train with the senior teams for half a year after the Novisch period.

Try-outs for the first week are free of charge.

Note that a membership in the club also gives you access to all fun club events such as Crayfish party, End of season dinner etc. and the ability to play a (or multiple) matches for the club.

After the intro?

After the introductory training, you can join one of MRC teams. There are three senior teams, men and women that play both 7s and 15s rugby.
